Service Packs are software updates from Microsoft (some other companies use the term, as well) which may contain updates making the software more reliable, more compatible and more secure. Service Packs can only be installed if there's a previous version of the same product on a computer.
By default, SoftMaker Office 2021 for Windows keeps itself up-to-date by automatically downloading service packs from our servers. If you have not installed the automatic update tool or simply want to know if your version of SoftMaker Office is current, you can also check for updates manually. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options. On the Security tab, click the Trusted Sites icon. Click Sites and then add these website addresses one at a time to the list: You can only add one address at a time and you must click Add after each one.
Microsoft issues service packs for its operating system and for its Office Suites.
This is the list of the most current service packs:
For Windows XP | Service Pack 3 |
For Windows Vista | Service Pack 2 |
For Windows 7 | Service Pack 1 |
For Office 2003 | Service Pack 3 |
For Office 2007 | Service Pack 3 |
For Office 2010 | Service Pack 2 |
For Office 2013 | Service Pack 1 |
How can you tell which Service Pack you have? Here's how to check:
In Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7
1) From the Start Menu, RIGHT-click on (My) Computer. (It's only called 'My' in Windows XP.)
2) Left-click on PROPERTIES.
3) At the top of the System Properties window, you will find both the version of Windows you are operating and which Service Pack is installed, if any. Here's an example from Windows 7 (notice it has Service Pack 1 installed) and another example from Windows XP (SP3).
In Microsoft Office 2003:
1) Open Word.
2) Click on the HELP menu.
3) Click on About Microsoft Office Word. The edition and the service packs installed, if any, will be listed at the top of the window which appears.
In Microsoft Office 2007:
1) Open Word.
2) Click on the Windows Logo drop-down menu in the upper left-hand corner of Word.
3) Click on Word Options.
4) In the left column, click on RESOURCES.
5) On the right-hand side of the window, find ABOUT Microsoft Office Word. The version and any service packs will be listed directly underneath.
In Microsoft Office 2010:
1) Open Word or any other Office Program.
2) On the FILE menu, choose HELP.
3) Under 'About Microsoft Word.' Click on 'Additional Version and Copyright Information.'
4) You'll find the Office 2010 Version and Service Pack information at the top of the new window which appears.
In Microsoft Office 2013:
1) Open Word or any other Office Program.
2) On the FILE menu, choose ACCOUNT.
3) Under 'Product Information,'click on 'ABOUT WORD' (Or whichever Office Product you opened.).
4) You'll find the Office 2013 Version at the top of the new window which appears. You have service pack 1 if the version is higher than 15.0.4569.1506.
